Another day of back to back trips with German students, again with an ideal forecast and a sunny afternoon to end with! Seal pup is fattening up quickly and, leaving it undisturbed, Free Spirit headed offshore, making the most of the calm sea conditions. Lots of gannets to be seen, firstly clumped in a large mass, circling and diving on the horizon.. becoming more dispersed as we approached, diving in all directions. A few Shearwaters passing through, more Balearic than Manx at this time of year, as well as 3 “BONXIE” Great Skuas! Harbour porpoise seen on both trips, first two adults, and then a group of 5, hunting and splashing before disappearing out of sight! As they do all too well.. Lovely views of peregrines, and another bird of prey, the Sparrowhawk, being chased by a group of finches.
