Set off on a quest today to hopefully locate and observe Basking Sharks  as when they are UP, they are UP! I’m thrilled and delighted to share with you all, my mission and my quest happily accomplished, as we located our first two Basking Sharks for 2018 recorded in Falmouth Bay today. A relatively small Basking Shark at 4 metres and a truly HUGE one, a behemoth no less, at some 7.05 metres. Just leaves a tingle running up and down your spine.. they always leave me that way and completely take my breath away, especially those huge ones, so prehistoric, so mysterious and always so intriguing, as we still know so little about them. Keep your eyes peeled everyone.. so privileged to see them again! Hoping now more will follow if the weather will stay warm and settled to allow the Zooplankton to rise. Other notable sightings were Black Throated Divers, more Puffins and Swallows coming in from offshore.

First BASKING SHARKS Falmouth Bay 2018, two individuals, one @ 4 metre, the other a behemoth @ 7.5 metres, 4 Black Throated Divers, 3 Puffins, Comic Tern, 4 BONXIE Great Skuas, Manx Shearwaters, lots offshore continually passing through, Razorbills, lots offshore , Guillemots, lots offshore, 7 Fulmars, Gannets, Ravens, 15 Whimbrels, one flock coming in from offshore
