Well, well, well me hearties, what a fun filled exciting month the last month has been, P P Particularly for P P Puffffffins heheee. I have always sighted and recorded Puffins in all my years since 2002/3 here in the rich and sheltered waters of Falmouth Bay Cornwall, however, I have truly never sighted and recorded as many of these dear little birds as I have this last month. Quite literally hundreds and hundreds have been offshore feeding, especially when you consider my dedicated, fun filled, educational and exciting wildlife cruises are only 4 hours long and Free Spirit’s track invariably takes us through the exciting and beautiful inshore zone firstly before we finally head out and offshore. So it’s quite remarkable in real terms that in just an HOUR we have been so privileged to observe and record some TWO HUNDRED and FOURTEEN PUFFINS… There is no denying it is truly fabulous and absolutely phenomenal… as these are everyone favourite birds. The majority of Puffins recorded are 1st and 2nd year Juveniles, grey cheeks tiny colouring up bills with the odd full adult thrown in for good measure, biggest raft, FOURTY TWO individuals. Numbers have slowly started to drop, but in real terms as per normal years, we are actually still sightings and recording lots, either flying through or in feeding rafts. So if you would like to enjoy the fun and excitement of seeing a Puffins in Falmouth Bay, there is no better time than now, as normally by July they have all but moved on and disappeared. Ahhhhh…

If you would like to join me as we head offshore, my dedicated wildlife cruises are available daily throughout the week. Cetacean sightings are slowly building once again offshore and those tiny dear little Storm Petrels are in good number now  zipppping and buzzzzzing around. Exciting times ahead as we move into the Summer season and warming Sea Temperature..

27 Common Dolphins, feeding frenzy, all full adults, 6 Harbour Porpoise, one hunting group, 3 Atlantic Grey Seals, 45 Puffins, multiple rafts and groups of 4 flying through, 9 STORM PETRELS, 2 BONXIE GREAT SKUA, 7 Sandwich Terns, JUVENILES HEADING SOUTH!!
