We were delighted to record our third Risso’s dolphins encounter so far for this year on our 7 hour trip yesterday, just off the Lizard, and thrilled that the 20 or so individuals could be witnessed for over an hour as they hunted around us. They could be seen breaching in the distance, or as white silhouettes just below the water beside Free Spirit, and at times we could even hear them vocalising. Lots of good seabirds too, particularly some close up views of Manx shearwaters and several storm petrels as well as almost constant encounters with guillemots and razorbills. In some areas the sea was thick with hundreds of huge barrel jellyfish. Pleasure to have Rick from MARINElife on board with us.
Free Spirit is out of the water tomorrow and Tuesday but we have spaces available later on in the week… the forecast is finally looking more spring-like! Or if you want to join us on one of our 7 hour trips, a list of dates for 2019 can be found on our website http://akwildlifecruises.co.uk/.
