It was a bit lumpy heading offshore yesterday but luckily our passengers had good sea legs! No fins were spotted sadly but we did have some really lovely encounters with over a dozen grey seals, as they popped their heads out of the water close to Free Spirit and played in the swell just off the coast. Coming back into the Carrick Roads and the Fal Estuary we had some outstanding bird sightings including a high number of great northern divers, several mergansers and a couple of rare black-necked grebes in their winter coats, our first sighting of these birds for this year.

15 Atlantic Grey Seals, one hauled out, 2 Black-Necked Grebes, winter coats, first for this year, 18 Great Northern Divers, most in winter coats, some showing summer plumage, 5 Mergansers, lots of Gannets, hunters and travelers, Guillemots, lots offshore and flying through, Razorbills, lots offshore and flying through, +-32 Oystercatchers, 1 Egret, 1 Peregrine Falcon, male in flight
