Another spectacular day to be out at sea with impressive skies and glassy water, and we were not disappointed by the wildlife we encountered either. The first group of common dolphins we found were feeding on a bait ball of tiny fish right at the surface with several gulls hovering above and we then had several additional interactions, with a largest group of around 50 animals. Many were quite keen to come over and bow ride Free Spirit and could be seen so clearly from above. A total of three minke whales were spotted from a huge distance away but were pretty tricky to keep track of! After a while of having everyone on board scanning and searching we were treated to some awesome, close up views of one particular whale and on one occasion could smell it’s fishy blow… hence the nickname ‘stinky minke’.
