September 27th – 29th

September 30th, 2019

On Friday we had the strong westerly winds which made for a lumpy sea! But with the fabulous shelter from the Lizard Peninsula we made it all the way down to Coverack and back and were treated to the most stunning double rainbow over the coastline as well as some great bird sightings including a Balearic shearwater, a lesser black backed gull and peregrine falcons. A bluefin tuna was seen leaping right out of the water. Over the weekend we had some lovely interactions with common dolphins and grey seals and found a work up of gannets feeding around harbour porpoises. Bring on October!

25 Common Dolphins, including calves, 10 Harbour Porpoises, feeding with gannets, 9 Atlantic Grey Seals, 1 Giant Bluefin Tuna, 5 Peregrine Falcons, at nesting sites, couple chasing a Raven, Mediterranean Gulls, Manx Shearwaters, small numbers seen offshore and flying through, 1 Balearic Shearwater, 1 Lesser Black Backed Gull, lots of Gannets, hunting work up, small wader, possibly a Knot
