We made the most of the last bit of nice weather yesterday spending both trips offshore and were very happy with what we found! We recorded 3 different species of cetacean in the morning including over 100 common dolphins with several calves, as well as lots of tuna breaching out of the water. Our highlight was an incredibly high count of the critically endangered Balearic shearwaters that we recorded, a record number for us! We always get excited when we see just a single Balearic so it was incredible to see so many. There were recently several hundred sighted in Lyme Bay so perhaps these were some of the same birds. In the afternoon we had some lovely close encounters with a group of very inquisitve seals in the water.
1 Minke Whale, 18ft subadult, +-140 Common Dolphins, mostly hunting, including several calves, 6 Harbour Porpoises, 16 Atlantic Grey Seals, including pup, lots of Atlantic Bluefin Tuna, breaching, +-200 BALEARIC SHEARWATERS, high count, Arctic Skua, 100s of Gannets, several hunting work ups, Guillemots, Razorbills, offshore and flying through, Kittiwakes, adults and juveniles, 2 Ravens
