We began yesterday’s trip by searching offshore and came across a small group of adult common dolphins rushing around at speed and creating a lot of spray. They were quite busy feeding in the area but did come over briefly to bow ride. The island colony and sites around the coastline are very busy with nesting seabirds and their chicks now, particularly shags, guillemots and razorbills. There was a lot of vocalisation from the auks with several birds flying in with sandeels. The fulmars were also fairly active around their nests and it’s been great to see peregrines back at one of their old nest sites!
5 Common Dolphins, hunting adults, 8 Atlantic Grey Seals, 1 Storm Petrel, 8 Fulmars, offshore and at nest site, Manx Shearwaters, large flocks offshore, +-200 Guillemots, Razorbills, 4 Kittiwakes, Gannets, lots of second year birds, mostly travellers, 1 Peregrine Falcon, at nest site, 6 Oystercatchers, 2 Ravens
