Frequently Asked Questions
Can I bring my dog?
AK Wildlife Cruises is dog friendly and we happily welcome small to medium dogs on board for only £10 extra. We have a limit of no more than 2 dogs per cruise. All we ask is that your dog is well behaved and doesn't bark. This is because we are WiSe accredited, meaning we go out of our way to avoid disturbing the wildlife we encounter. If you are concerned about barking, we suggest treats to distract your dog. We recommend bringing poo bags, treats, and a familiar blanket so your four-legged friend is content and comfortable for the duration of the cruise. Please contact us if you would like to bring your four-legged friend so that we can check the size and make sure we are not going over our two dog limit on your cruise.
Do you have toilets onboard?
Yes! Spirit of Our Seas, our modern catamaran, is outfitted with a pump-out toilet onboard. We do recommend using the toilets at the marina before boarding. The toilet onboard is not wheelchair accessible but there are fully equipped disabled toilets at the marina. Instructions of toilet usage and safety will be given at the beginning of your wildlife cruise by crew onboard.
Have you got food and drink?
We do not serve any food or drink on our cruises and kindly ask all of our passengers to provide their own food and drinks for the duration of their cruise. We would recommend bringing plenty of food and drink for our longer cruises as being out to sea is hungry and thirsty work. Alcohol is prohibited on our cruises.
Where are you?
We are located at the Premier Marina in Falmouth. It is approximately a 25 minute walk from the centre of Falmouth or a 5-10 minute taxi journey. Once you get to the Marina please meet us before your cruise at the blue gate at the end of the open corridor through the middle of the marina building. Pre-trip thoughts, before you go on your Eco Wildlife Cruise:
At AK Wildlife Cruises, we want to ensure that you have the best experience during your wildlife cruise. Here are some pre-trip considerations to help you make the most of your adventure:
-
Photography is actively encouraged: Capture the memories of your wildlife encounters and the stunning coastal landscapes by bringing your camera or smartphone. From playful dolphins to soaring seabirds, there will be numerous opportunities to snap breathtaking photos. Don't forget to bring spare batteries or a portable charger to keep your devices powered throughout the trip.
-
Bring Binoculars: Enhance your wildlife-watching experience by bringing a pair of binoculars, if you have them. Binoculars allow you to observe marine creatures and coastal birds up close, even from a distance. You'll be amazed by the level of detail and the ability to spot wildlife that may be farther away.
-
Sunglasses for Better Visuals: The sun's glare on the water can sometimes make it challenging to see wildlife or fully appreciate the coastal scenery. Consider wearing sunglasses to reduce the glare, allowing for improved visibility and more enjoyable visuals. You'll have a clearer view of the wildlife and the stunning surroundings.
-
Grippy Shoes and Waterproofs: We recommend wearing grippy shoes or non-slip footwear to ensure stability and safety on the boat. The decks can become wet or slippery, especially if there are waves or inclement weather. Additionally, bringing waterproofs such as a light rain jacket or a waterproof hat can provide protection from unexpected showers or sea spray, keeping you comfortable throughout the trip.
-
Refreshments: Please bring any refreshments you may want, as we do not provide any. Alcohol is prohibited.
-
Parking: There is ample parking at Falmouth Premier Marina, where we are based, which is to be paid on exit. Please check online or on the day for up to date pricing.
By keeping these pre-trip thoughts in mind and coming prepared, you'll have a fantastic time on your wildlife cruise with AK Wildlife Cruises. So, grab your camera, binoculars, sunglasses, and suitable footwear, and get ready for an unforgettable adventure along the breathtaking coastline of Cornwall.
